The outskirts of Bastrop might be the next hot spot for Texas film production.
After years in the making, Spiderwood Studios is now open for business with more expansion plans already underway.
The multi-million-dollar development is the state's largest privately-owned film studio.
State-of-the-art amenities along with recent legislation that improves filmmaking incentives could give the local industry a much-needed shot in the arm.
"One of the things we've been waiting on is the incentives program, but it's not us waiting on it, it's other people waiting on it who affect us and affect the whole area. We could really bring a lot of jobs to town and to the area of Central Texas," developer Tommy G. Warren, said.
Spiderwood's 200-acre property includes the only back lot shooting location in Central Texas along the banks of the Colorado River.
The studio was designed to accommodate commercial, animation and music videos along with feature films.
